Camp War Eagle hires staff from around the world to work as counselors with our incredible kids or behind the scenes on our wonderful Support Staff teams (Kitchen or SWAT). International Staff come to camp to selflessly support and serve CWE campers and families with excellence, integrity, unity, and resilience; and to enrich diversity and empathy within the CWE community as they engage in exchange of language and culture.
Support Staff are a behind the scenes, hardworking team of people who serve camp through manual labor. They set up and tear down events, and do other housekeeping, admin, maintenance and sanitization related tasks, as well as serve the meals, clean the dining hall, and wash dishes. These are the jobs that make camp possible for the kids. To learn more about Support Staff positions at CWE check out the SWAT, Kitchen or CORE Team positions.
Counselors are certified in an area of camp (Outdoor Skills, Lifeguard, Nature, Crafts, Ropes, Horses, Media, Skate Park, Mountain Biking), they engage kids in all they do and typically live in-cabin with them. They coach a variety of sports and lead other activities. They also lead prayer and Bible study, and teach the principles of Christian faith. A proficient English level is essential to this role. For more information about being a counselor at CWE check out the In-Cabin Counselor, Day Camp Specialist, and Extreme Serve counselor positions.
All International Staff come to camp through a visa sponsoring agency like IENA, United Studies, or Camp Leaders on J1 Counselor or Summer Work and Travel Visas. If you are interested in working with us please pursue placement through one of these agencies.
Internationals at CWE are offered opportunities to connect and form relationships with our domestic staff as well as improve their English speaking skills. At camp they gain valuable career, faith, and character building experience. Internationals encounter American culture through a variety of cultural exchange activities available to them in the evenings and on day off. Plus, their visa allows them to travel the USA before and after their employment term. Internationals are compensated for their work according to their agency requirements. While all jobs at camp are challenging, the people you meet and work with are outstanding – and the experience is unforgettable.
