Health & Wellness

Safety Is Our Top Priority

At Camp War Eagle, each child's health and safety is our primary concern. Our safety standards are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the American Camp Association, with the underlying desire to treat each camper as if they were our own.

Staff Selection and Training

Camp War Eagle is highly selective and carefully screens all staff through interviews, reference checks, and annual criminal background checks. Staff complete a sexual abuse prevention course before camp and receive thorough onsite training focused on camper safety and well-being. All summer staff must complete a 10-day orientation, including certification in CPR and First Aid. All Lifeguards and activity instructors (e.g., ropes course, archery, horsemanship) receive additional certification.

Medical Staff

Camp War Eagle provides full-time medical coverage at Overnight Camp throughout each session. Our onsite medical team include licensed nurses, doctors, and paramedics who are dedicated to the health and safety of our campers. These professionals operate out of our Health Center and are also present across campus to respond quickly to any medical needs. They will administer all your child’s prescription and over the counter medications during their stay at camp. Their constant presence ensures that campers receive prompt, professional care at all times.

Weather Safety
Precautions

Camp War Eagle takes weather safety seriously and have protocols in place to protect campers and staff. All staff are trained in severe weather procedures, and the camp continuously monitors conditions using weather radios and alerts. In the event of severe weather, Camp War Eagle has two large tornado shelters available, along with ample covered spaces across camp to keep campers safe during lightning or storms. These measures ensure that even when the weather changes, the safety of campers remains the top priority—and the Camp War Eagle fun never stops.

Camp Parents

Our Camp Parent Program plays a vital role in supporting camper health and emotional well-being. Each week, 3 dedicated Camp Parents are on-site offering a layer of attention to emotional wellness, homesickness, and other concerns that may arise during a camper’s time away from home. They serve as a supportive bridge between campers, counselors, and families, offering guidance, check-ins, and thoughtful care. Trained to spot when a camper might need support, Camp Parents help ensure every camper feels safe, connected, and confident throughout their stay.
