June 9, 2020

It is with a heavy heart we announce that Camp War Eagle is cancelling all of our DAY CAMP sessions in Rogers and Springdale for Summer 2020. Please know that this decision was reached with a tremendous amount of research, communication with authorities and health professionals, and prayer. However, with the nature of the day camp environment along with the recent increase of positive COVID-19 cases in northwest Arkansas, this decision reflects our commitment to the health and safety of our campers, staff and community.

  • We are still looking forward to an amazing Overnight Camp 2020 for ages 9 to 17, starting June 21!
  • If your day camper is age 9 or older and you would like to be considered for Overnight Camp, please email us at [email protected]. Eligible campers will be considered for placement as spots become available.
  • Refunds for any day camp fees paid will be issued in the next few weeks to families.

Thank you for your patience and trust as we navigate the current situation. Our top priority is the well-being and safety of our camp families.

We know that our Camp War Eagle families are looking forward to more details on Camp War Eagle Summer 2020, and we are working diligently on all fronts to finalize those details as soon as possible.

  • The good news is that Camp War Eagle is preparing to have camp this summer!
  • The Governor’s office has announced that it will release specific summer camp guidance on May 20. We will not be able to finalize anything until that happens.
  • At this time, however, we anticipate a delayed start to our summer sessions, meaning that we may not be able to begin sessions on May 31 as originally planned.
  • This does not mean that any sessions are cancelled at this time, it simply means that the dates of your enrolled session could change.
  • Should our session dates change, our plan is to maintain 7 overnight sessions and 5 day camp sessions for Summer 2020.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work toward a safe and fun Summer 2020. We love our Camp War Eagle families and assure you that we will provide additional information as soon as we are able!

MAY 6, 2020

Camp War Eagle staff is continuing to work closely with officials on COVID-19 guidelines and directives as relates to summer camps. With the safety of our campers, staff, families and communities at the forefront, we continue to carefully consider all options. The Governor’s office and the Arkansas Department of Health continues to release new guidance and protocol information which is more encouraging each day. We continue to delay the announcement of any modifications to our summer schedule as we are still hopeful to be able to offer the absolute maximum days of summer camp that we SAFELY can. At this point no sessions are being cancelled and we are still planning on each placed camper having a spot in the session assigned. In the event of changes to summer sessions and programming, Camp War Eagle will make every effort to notify families at least 14 days prior to the beginning of affected sessions. Thank you for your patience and understanding. As always, feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.

APRIL 20, 2020

AMAZING Camp War Eagle Families,

Our staff continues to think of our Camp Families and pray that you are doing as well as possible in these unprecedented times. We know that questions abound in uncertainty and want to provide a quick update on what we know about COVID-19 and summer camp 2020. Many of you are aware that both Federal and State governments are evaluating plans for reopening America. Clearly, this impacts what will happen in the Camp War Eagle summer programs. Here is a limited update based on what we know…

  • First, safety is still our number one priority and we will be prepared to have summer programs only if, but as soon as, it is safe to do so.
  • We understand it is difficult to not have answers about what will happen this summer as relates to summer camp and planning and it is our desire as much as yours to have answers on the future.
  • We are continuing to monitor the situation and work closely with officials on COVID-19 specifics. We are in direct communication with the Governor’s office and the Arkansas Department of Health.
  • The Governor has announced he will release more specific guidelines with more data by or before May 4th.
  • Camp War Eagle will wait until after the May 4 directives are released before we release any proposed modifications to summer programming. We feel at that time we will have a much more realistic idea of what the summer will look like.
  • Our staff continues to work tirelessly on Amazing Camp War Eagle experiences in any scenario.

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we all continue to navigate unprecedented circumstances. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns. We will communicate more information as soon as it becomes available.

MARCH 31, 2020

Dear Camp Families,

We appreciate the patience of families as we continue to prepare for Summer 2020 in the midst of unprecedented times.

  • Our first priority is, as always, the safety and health of our campers, staff, families and community.
  • We are monitoring the situation closely and diligently following the directives and recommendations from infectious disease specialists, the CDC, State of Arkansas health officials and others.
  • We will be ready to provide an Amazing Camp War Eagle experience as soon as we can ensure it is safe to do so.  Our staff is working tirelessly to prepare for our best summer ever. If necessary, we are prepared to offer alternate options for any adjustments to summer programming. As we receive new guidance from public health leaders, we will update camper families and staff as soon as possible of any adjustments to our summer programming.
  • Camp War Eagle has a qualified team of health professionals. Camp War Eagle medical protocols are established by our Medical Director, Dr. Secily Torn, MD, FAAP (a Board Certified Pediatrician) and Susan Torn, MSN, RN, Masters in Health Education with an emphasis on Public Health. Camp War Eagle’s health center is overseen by our Health Services Director, Traci Seal, BSN, RN. Our summer health center staffs a medical doctor, 1 paramedic and up to 5 registered nurses per session.
  • In addition to our strict screening protocols, Camp War Eagle is implementing even more stringent pre-camp screening measures, along with safety and monitoring programs during camp to ensure our camp environment is healthy and safe for kids.
  • We understand the current challenges involved with acquiring health screenings and physicals. We will certainly work with families on the deadlines for these and help find solutions to these issues.  While deadlines may be adjusted, please remember that ALL paperwork is required prior to attendance to any CWE summer session. We encourage parents to complete as much of the required information online as possible.
  • In the event of adjustments to summer sessions, any tuition payments for affected sessions will be applied to a replacement session or refunded.
  • We encourage families who are facing unforeseen financial situations that affect their ability to pay camp tuition to contact us so that we can work with them to find solutions.

We remain committed to closely monitoring the situation with the safety of our campers in mind and want to make sure you, our camp families, are fully informed, protected, and at ease. We appreciate your trust and are fully prepared to make decisions with your camper’s safety our top priority.
